Annabel Karmel Sani Resort Young food explorers launch

Tasty Vibes: Breakfast with Annabel Karmel for the launch of the Sani Resort ‘Young Food Explorer’ Menu

When Annabel Met Sani

We love to travel!  The whole reason behind setting up our blog was to document our experiences traveling with Em.  In fact, our first post was all about Em’s first trip abroad at 4 months, and boy were we smug!! Don’t let anyone put you off traveling with a baby!!  Traveling with a baby is easy!!  Yes, prep is key, but babies sleep!  They don’t move!!  You can sunbathe, without chasing after a toddler heading full steam towards a swimming pool.  You also don’t have to worry about what to feed them – It’s all Milk Baby!

Little Em’s First Holiday abroad

Our last holiday with Em was totally different, at 18 months we definitely didn’t come back feeling smug, we were exhausted.  We had a great time, don’t get me wrong, but It was bloody hard work physically and mentally.   Pete, and I were definitely in need of a holiday when we returned.  With toddler tantrums in full force, it really was a chore getting Em to eat anything remotely healthy. So, when we heard that everyones  favourite cookery author; Annabel Karmel had partnered up with Sani Resort, we were all ears!!

Sani Resort can do the Thinking for You

If you haven’t heard of Sani Resort, let us just lay down some facts.  A collection of 5 unique, and beautiful 5 star hotels spread over a 1,000 acres of an ecological reserve, in Halkidiki, Greece.  All centred around a picturesque marina.  Sani Resorts have managed to combine luxury with nature and the effect is magical.  The location looks remarkable as you’re surrounded by the crystal blue clearwater of the Aegean Sea and the pine forests of the Kassandra peninsula.  But on top of all this scenic and aesthetically pleasing landscape, Sani is a world class family Resort, and only a short plane ride away.

Sani Resort have thought of everything to ensure that your family holiday goes as smoothly as possible.  With Sani it’s all in the details; car seats for airport transfers, baby monitors, push chairs and kids go free which is a total bonus.   They recognise that before we were parents, we were all adults who liked a good time, and we agree with Sani!!  Why should the fun stop when you have kids?  They have combined the best of both worlds, and ensure that there are tons of activities, to help us adults have a bit of alone time in luxury surroundings.  A Creche is provided by Worldwide Kids, and there are kids clubs for mini’s and teens.  Or if you prefer you can watch your babies burn off all that pent up energy in the Splash Pool, or go zip-lining and exploring in the new Adventure park in the forest!!

Breakfast at Annabel’s

The launch of the ‘Young Food Explorers’ menu means that your Children are going to have the right ingredients to fuel all of these fun activities whilst away.  So you can imagine how excited we were to get an invite to Annabel’s house for breakfast, to celebrate the launch!!!   Not only did we get to try out all these tasty dishes, but we got to witness our cooking hero in action.

As we stood around Annabel’s breakfast bar she spoke about her love for food, and her passion in creating delicious and healthy meals for our children.  We have followed Annabel’s tips and recipes since Em was weaning, and the AK toddler meals are a hit in our house.  Quite often we’re too tired to cook after work, so at least we can be confident that Em is getting nutritious meals.  But on holiday it’s a whole new ball game! Foreign countries, mean foreign food, and a lot of the time tiny tastebuds just don’t want to try the Octopus, or Feta on offer.  Not through want of trying.  It’s all to easy to just have a 2 week diet of chips, pizza, and more chips.  Now I’m not knocking chips, but it would be nice to have some healthier children’s menus on offer.

Fun, Fresh, Flavoursome and Nutritious

Thats where the ‘Young Food Explorer’ menu comes in.  A menu that is full of fun, flavour and nutritious ingredients, that arn’t going to come with any Mum guilt!  The perfect way to encourage your babes to try new flavours, but also include them in meals that are cooked to order!  We got to sample quite a few dishes this morning, and hands on heart they were all delicious.   Can we order off the kids menu please?

Annabel went to Greece earlier this year, and personally trained the resident Sani chefs in how to create her fab recipes, that include quesadilla, sweetcorn fritters, mini hamburgers and giant cous cous salad. My favourite by far was the Grilled Salmon with Chinese Style Veggie Rice.  Packed full of omega 3, and with a morerish marinade, this is a meal I’lll be attempting to replicate at home.  Even the sweet treats came guilt free with a tropical dip served with fresh fruit, and no-sugar chocolate orange energy balls.  For those times when you fancy being a bit more naughty, Sani Resort have their very own Ice Cream truck that travels between the hotels.

For the younger babies, you can order fresh baby purées inspired by Annabel’s famous cookbooks.   That we all know and love so well, no more worrying about packing jars of baby food.   Yay to more luggage allowance!!

Summer at Sani

You can tell how much Annabel loves what she does.  The genuine joy she gets from seeing children (and adults) enjoying her food, is clear to see.  She will be making appearances over the Summer at Sani Resort, offering cook-alongs, exclusives dinners and baby-toddler feeding talks.  This partnership is all about inspiring families whilst on holiday.  With the aim of providing simple, but healthy recipes and advice to be enjoyed long after the holiday is over…. Book us up now!!

Wow what an amazing place to take a holiday in. I live how they not only cater to the adult but the children as well. I’ll have to check them out once we’re ready to take the girls to that side of the world.
