Motherhood Vibes : The #BepanthenProtects Challenge with Brit Mums and Bepanthen

The Bepanthen Protects Challenge

We were recently contacted by Brit Mums, to see whether we wanted to take part in the #Bepanthenprotects Challenge campaign. Disclaimer : We were gifted the Bepanthen used for this challenge, we were not paid to participate or to write this article, and the information provided on the use of the ointment are our own words from experience.

The Challenge:  To use Bepanthen daily, as part of our usual nappy change routine, and not to clear up Em’s bot once we saw it getting a bit red.

The Goal: To care for your child’s skin and protect it from the causes of nappy rash.

Our Love Affair With Bepanthen

We have been using Bepanthen since Em was tiny.  As the ointment is so gentle it can be used straight from birth.  Admittedly it took us a few trial runs of various ointments before we settled on Bepanthen as our go to, but we got there in the end.

Pete and I were familiar with Bepanthen, it’s a bit of a hidden gem when it comes to tattoo healing.  So, we knew it had great healing properties, and would be perfect for clearing up nappy rash FAST.  We found that of all the remedies on the market, Bepanthen was the cream that cleared the redness the quickest.  There were even occasions where it had disappeared all together by the next nappy change.

Toddler and Bepanthen Ointment

If Em’s Happy We’re Happy

Teething Woes

As Emerson got older, and the nappy rash breakouts were far and few between we stopped using it at every change.  As we knew it worked so quickly we would only draw for Bepanthen when we saw that there was a rash brewing.  Thankfully this isn’t often, but as we found out the other day a bad bout of teething, coupled with illness is enough to cause severe nappy rash.  Even at 22 months!  His most recent bout was probably his worst case yet.  We spent that Sunday evening tracking down some Bepanthen at a 24 hour chemist at 10.30pm.

Back To The Challenge

So, 3 weeks ago we began our #BepanthenProtects challenge.  We were sent two sized tubes to use; one hand sized 30g, that we kept in the changing bag (no more late night chemist runs for us!), and a bumper 100g tube that we kept at home.  Both come with a flip top lid, meaning that you still have one hand free to deploy the one handed parent grip that you often need for a wriggly toddler.

Bepanthen Nappy Ointment

Bepanthen comes in 2 different sizes, perfect for at home, and on the go.

Even using it everyday, multiple times a day, it’s thick cream is easy to apply.   It spreads on easily which means it lasts ages. A little really does go along way, and you don’t have to worry about thick white, sticky creamy mess that gets on everything, or brown stains on clothing.

Bepanthen has a kind-to-skin formulation which means:

  • No Fragrance
  • Colour Free – even though the cream is white when it comes out the tube, it forms a transparent, breathable layer
  • No Preservatives
  • Paraben Free
  • No Antiseptics
  • Contains Provitamin B5 to help skin to repair its natural protective barrier
Say No to Sticky Excess

We love Bepanthens non sticky formula.  It’s easy to wipe clean but is still thick enough to create a layer protecting those little butts from irritants.  Yes, these irritants are mostly wee and pooh, but rubbing of the nappy is also a culprit.  This is something that we are experiencing more of now Em is officially a toddler!  As he is tearing around the place, and now wearing pull ups we find that these are not as snug as traditional nappies and have caused some chaffing.

The formula soaks in really well, and there is no need to wipes any excess cream off between nappy changes.  Which is a total result, it makes life easier when you’re grappling with a nappy changing hating toddler.

How to apply: Spread a thin layer of Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment to your baby’s clean, dry bottom after each nappy change.

The results are in:  After 3 weeks of using Bepanthen at every change, Em’s tiny little peach has had zero redness.  It’s still as soft as ever, and he is one happy little dude.  Our tube’s are fairing well and we have plenty left.  We are definitely converts on using Bepanthen daily especially whilst he is still in nappies.

What do you use to make sure you have nappy rash under control? Do you use ointments at every change? Why don’t you take the #Bepanthenprotects Challenge and let us know how you get on in the comments

I have not heard of this one here, but so amazing when you find something that works and is good for the baby’s skin.

Totally agree, it can take a while and what works for one baby may not necessarily work for another – but when you find something that does it’s like hitting the jackpot ?
